St. Alphonsus Parish School Seattle Ballard

Message From Our Principal

Dear Prospective Family,

St. Alphonsus is Ballard’s Catholic School and Parish, experiencing continued support from our community for over 100 years.

Last accredited in 2014, our school was founded in 1907 as Holy Angels Academy, serving primary through high school aged children. The doors of our current school house, St. Alphonsus School, opened in 1923 with Holy Angels High School students taking the top floor. Holy Angles High School closed in 1972. St. Alphonsus Parish School now serves 235 students Preschool through 8th grade.

A quick tour through our buildings and campus will show any visitor the pride and care we take in the maintenance of our facilities. We have a very active Parents’ Club that organizes three major annual fundraisers to support the cost of educating each student, along with numerous other community events throughout our school year. Our strong School Commission is committed to advising school leadership in strategic planning and business decisions, as well as day-to-day operations. And the Marketing, Admissions and Development team works with school and parish leadership in support of communication and furthering our mission.

Our certificated teaching faculty is committed to the academic success of each child by delivering a rigorous and challenging curriculum, by offering appropriate resources and accommodations, and by differentiating instruction to meet the needs of each student. St. Alphonsus Parish School teachers know that boys and girls learn differently. Our instructional model supports single gender education in the core subjects of Math, Science, Language Arts, Social Studies, and Religion during the middle years of 5th through 8th grade. In addition, we offer Art, Physical Education and Music education to each child beginning in Kindergarten, and Spanish Language beginning in 3rd Grade. Our Montessori Preschool is firmly grounded in Catholic principles and the Montessori method.

We are committed to our vision of academic excellence founded in tradition, faith and community. Please contact our Admissions Coordinator to schedule a tour. Come by and see for yourself why St. Alphonsus Parish School would be an excellent choice for your child’s education.
