A message from Megan Costa
2018-2019 Elizabeth Ann Seton Award Winner
Dear Friends and Families of St. Alphonsus Parish & School,
I wanted to thank our school principal, Ms. Cifu, for giving me the incredible honor of receiving the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Award this year at our Catholic Schools Week Mass! It has been a blessing to be a part of the St. Alphonsus community for the last four years. Since joining the team in 2015 as 1st grade teacher, I have enjoyed being a part of this supportive and caring school and parish community.
Teaching 1st grade and working with our primary students has brought me so much joy over the years. For the past two years, I have also been blessed with the opportunity to take on new leadership roles outside of the classroom. I have enjoyed working alongside Ms. Cifu as a part of our school’s leadership team, as well as working with Fr. Richard, the sisters, and our youth as St. Alphonsus youth minister.
Thank you to the incredible families, parishioners, teachers and staff that help make our school and parish community so wonderful! I look forward to all the blessings that our year together will bring. I would also like to thank my husband, my parents and family for their endless amount of love and support throughout my teaching career.
Saint Alphonsus Parish School’s annual Jog-a-thon fundraiser is coming up on Thursday, May 2, 2019. This fun event is a student favorite and an important fundraiser for our school.
The Jog-a-thon committee is looking for volunteers to help plan the event. We are seeking individuals who are interested in communications, logistics, and hospitality. If one of these focus areas looks like a good fit, please email email@example.com.
Please note, requests for day of event volunteers will be coming in April.
While this was a short week, it was definitely packed with fun and learning. This week I have a few more announcements about some staffing changes.
First, I want to extend a warm welcome to our new Marketing and Communications Director, Sue Pierce. Sue is a St. Al’s parent and has been a wonderful asset to our community the past few years. She was previously volunteering as our amateur historian and has been working on prep for Jog-athon. We are so incredibly happy to have her on board in her new official role in the Development Office.
My other staffing news is also related to the Development Office. After working as our Development Director for the past two years, Lena Anderson has accepted a new role in the Business Office at Holy Names. This is a dream come true for Lena as she has been wanting to return to her high school roots for quite some time. While we are so very sad to see her go, we know this new role is a perfect fit for her talents and treasure. Lena has been an incredible member of our team, working on the auction, handling the Annual Fund accounting and tracking, assisting with the start of our endowment, and so much more. I want to send a personal heartfelt thank you to Lena for everything she has done for the school and we all look forward to continuing a partnership with her as a St. Al’s parent.
The Development Director position will be posted on the Archdiocese Catholic schools job site. Feel free to contact me or the front office for more information.
Thank you to everyone for a great week. Stay tuned for a direct email from me about a few further items and details about Catholic Schools Week.
Mom, we’re bored.
