Message from the Principal

Hello St. Al Families,

It is hard to believe but we are about to finish our second week of school.  This was a week full of specialists, routines, and new friendships.  We welcomed a visiting priest, had our first curriculum night, and experienced some impressive thunder and lightning.  It has been a wonderful start to the school year in many ways.

This week I was struck by the idea of finding the unfamiliar in the familiar.  Each day I watched our students uncover new joys in a very familiar place and a familiar concept (school).  It is amazing that you can see/experience the same thing for days, weeks, or even years and still continue to find new discoveries with each encounter.  This year is full of these discoveries.  We welcome new staff into a cohesive group of teachers and programs. We welcome new families into a community that is comfortable and familiar, while gladly embracing new members as if they had been with us all along.  We hold our morning traditions while embracing a new schedule.  We are a community rooted in the familiar embrace of God’s love.  We are also a community that strives to grow, to improve, and to stretch ourselves so we can create the best possible opportunities for our students.  Familiar with working with unfamiliar.  Who we are, supporting where we would like to go.

Every school year holds new possibilities and a fresh start.  I am excited about all of the joy awaiting us this year.  As we work together through each milestone let us always remember to root ourselves in the familiarity of our mission and vision as we celebrate the unfamiliar and grow as a community.

Thank you,
