MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Hello St. Al Family and Friends,<\/p>\n

\n

In light of this week\u2019s events, I decided to share a quote from Martin Luther King Jr and the Prayer of St. Francis with our students this morning. “Darkness cannot drive out darkness, only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate, only love can do that.”\u2014Martin Luther King Jr.<\/p>\n

Prayer of St. Francis<\/u>
\nLord, make me an instrument of Thy peace;
\nWhere there is hatred, let me sow love;
\nWhere there is injury, pardon;
\nWhere there is error, the truth;
\nWhere there is doubt, the faith;
\nWhere there is despair, hope;
\nWhere there is darkness, light;
\nAnd where there is sadness, joy.
\n<\/em>O Divine Master,
\nGrant that I may not so much seek
\nTo be consoled, as to console;
\nTo be understood, as to understand;
\nTo be loved as to love.<\/em><\/p>\n

For it is in giving that we receive;
\nIt is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
\nAnd it is in dying that we are born to eternal life. Amen.<\/p>\n

I spoke about being a light that helps drive away sadness, anger, and despair.\u00a0 We are called to be God\u2019s light in the world and to share our gifts and God\u2019s love with those around us.<\/p>\n

Right now, it can seem difficult to see light beyond the despair around us.\u00a0 Our country is hurting.\u00a0 Our world is hurting, and this can seem overwhelming at times.\u00a0 Darkness will not defeat us when we shine with God\u2019s light.\u00a0 I asked the students this morning to take time today to shine a light on the world, whether that is actively showing love to others or finding courage and light inside themselves.\u00a0 Feel free to join us as we all work toward a better tomorrow through love, through light, through Him.<\/p>\n
