{"id":2044,"date":"2021-04-15T10:03:36","date_gmt":"2021-04-15T17:03:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/stalseattle.org\/school\/?p=2044"},"modified":"2021-04-15T10:03:36","modified_gmt":"2021-04-15T17:03:36","slug":"cyo-news-8","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stalseattle.org\/school\/blog\/archives\/2044","title":{"rendered":"CYO News"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>CYO Track and Field\u00a0for Grade 8<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Calling all 8<sup>th<\/sup> Graders!<br \/>\nCYO is planning on <u>one in-person track event this spring<\/u>:\u00a0 8<sup>th<\/sup> Grade pentathlon on May 23.\u00a0 \u00a0No former track experience required.\u00a0 The events for the pentathlon include:<!--more--><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Shot Put<\/li>\n<li>Long Jump<\/li>\n<li>100m<\/li>\n<li>400m<\/li>\n<li>800m<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This would be a great chance to get together with other 8<sup>th<\/sup> graders!\u00a0 No experience or skill required.\u00a0 We hope to host voluntary training sessions on Monday and Wednesdays in April and May at Ingraham HS from 6-730pm.\u00a0 \u00a0Participants can also train independently.\u00a0 Please let us know who is interested and whether interested in virtual or in-person training by filling out this survey. <a href=\"https:\/\/forms.gle\/VWw9q1bMfJMBVcVt6\" data-cke-saved-href=\"https:\/\/forms.gle\/VWw9q1bMfJMBVcVt6\">https:\/\/forms.gle\/VWw9q1bMfJMBVcVt6<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The success of the spring track season will rely heavily on parent participation and parents&#8217; timing of kids.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>CYO Track and Field for Grades 4-7<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>CYO Track: CYO is holding a virtual track this year.\u00a0 Runners can train independently and report times\/distances for events by the end of each Saturday in May (only one set of times is required to make championships, but runners are welcome to submit times each week) and Championship results must be submitted by June 5.\u00a0 Events will include the following:<br \/>\n<strong>4<sup>th<\/sup>\/5<sup>th<\/sup> Grade Events<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Softball Throw<\/li>\n<li>Long Jump<\/li>\n<li>50m Race<\/li>\n<li>100m Race<\/li>\n<li>400m Race<\/li>\n<li>Shuttle Relay (4 x 60m)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>6<sup>th<\/sup> Grade Events<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Choose 1 \u2013 Softball Throw or Shot Put<\/li>\n<li>Long Jump<\/li>\n<li>100m<\/li>\n<li>400m<\/li>\n<li>800m<\/li>\n<li>4 x 100m Relay<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>7<sup>th<\/sup>\/8<sup>th<\/sup> Grade Events<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Shot Put<\/li>\n<li>Long Jump<\/li>\n<li>100m<\/li>\n<li>400m<\/li>\n<li>800m<\/li>\n<li>4 x 100m Relay<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The success of the spring track season will rely heavily on parent participation and parents&#8217; timing of kids.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Additionally, we are trying to assess numbers and whether we can hold in-person training sessions for small groups, but we will need to know how many runners are interested in doing in-person training and we will need at least two parent volunteers per grade.\u00a0 Please let us know if your runner is interested and if you are interested in volunteering!\u00a0 And if your runner is interested in participating only virtually that is great too, please fill out the following short survey ASAP.\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/forms.gle\/VWw9q1bMfJMBVcVt6\" data-cke-saved-href=\"https:\/\/forms.gle\/VWw9q1bMfJMBVcVt6\">https:\/\/forms.gle\/VWw9q1bMfJMBVcVt6<\/a><\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Thanks!<\/strong><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>CYO Summer Basketball<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Please fill out the attached survey if your child is interested in summer basketball.\u00a0 There are no details at this point.\u00a0 We are gathering interest information and then will make a plan. <a href=\"https:\/\/forms.gle\/rbbHDe4oN22GqMNK8\" data-cke-saved-href=\"https:\/\/forms.gle\/rbbHDe4oN22GqMNK8\">https:\/\/forms.gle\/rbbHDe4oN22GqMNK8<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Please direct any questions or comments to <a href=\"mailto:jpatbrowne@hotmail.com\" data-cke-saved-href=\"mailto:jpatbrowne@hotmail.com\">Julie Giebel<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>CYO Track and Field\u00a0for Grade 8 Calling all 8th Graders!
