The holiday season\u2019s magic comes alive in our St. Alphonsus preschool classroom! As part of the Core Knowledge curriculum, our youngest learners are diving into the Classic Tales<\/strong> unit\u2014a cornerstone of our program that spirals through every grade, becoming richer and more complex as students grow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One beloved story in this unit is The Elves and the Shoemaker<\/strong><\/em>, where a poor shoemaker leaves out his last pieces of leather, only to find that kind-hearted elves have transformed them into beautiful shoes by morning. Inspired by this magical tale, our preschoolers have become busy little elves themselves, studying the art of shoemaking and crafting their own \u201cshoes for others.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This activity is more than just fun\u2014it embodies one of the hallmarks of a St. Alphonsus education: learning to see and respond to the needs of others. It\u2019s a joyful way to nurture empathy and generosity, key virtues that are central to our mission.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Do you remember how the story ends? The shoemaker, touched by the elves\u2019 kindness, decides to give back by creating something special for them. Just like in the tale, our preschoolers are discovering the beauty of gratitude and giving.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Next year, our\u00a0early learning program is expanding<\/a>, and we\u2019d love for you to visit and experience the magic in person.
