{"id":636,"date":"2018-09-13T13:53:51","date_gmt":"2018-09-13T20:53:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/stalseattle.org\/school\/?p=636"},"modified":"2018-09-13T13:53:51","modified_gmt":"2018-09-13T20:53:51","slug":"a-message-from-the-principal-september-13-2018","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stalseattle.org\/school\/blog\/archives\/636","title":{"rendered":"A Message from the Principal &#8211; September 13, 2018"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Hello St. Al Families,<\/p>\n<p>Welcome to week two of our school year together.\u00a0I wanted to provide information about a few upcoming events as well as reminders about some of our safety polices and procedures.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Events<\/strong><br \/>\nCurriculum Night<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Pre-K through 4th\u00a0Grade; September 19, 7-8:30pm<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Book Fair<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/bookfairs.scholastic.com\/bookfairs\/cptoolkit\/homepage.do?method=homepage&amp;url=stalphonsusschool\">Online fair began on September 9<\/a><\/li>\n<li>School fair runs September 14-21<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Picture Day<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>September 18; full uniform day for pictures and for mass<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Maps Testing<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Begins September 17<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Policies and Procedures<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Visitor badges:<\/strong>\u00a0When visiting the school please sign in and out at the front office. Also, please pick up a visitor badge. \u00a0We want to make sure all adults in the building can be easily identified and that the office is aware we have visitors. \u00a0This assists us in evacuating the building during emergency situations and allows us to maintain a high level of safety and security for our students through out the day. If you see someone in the building who is not a staff member and is not wearing a visitor badge, please report it to the office immediately.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Doors:<\/strong>\u00a0All doors to our buildings remain locked during the school day. \u00a0This is to make sure that no one is admitted without permission. \u00a0Please make sure to close all doors behind you when entering the building and do not admit anyone behind that is not known to you or is not clearly going to the office.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Pets on campus:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>* Absolutely no\u00a0dogs or pets are allowed in the school building<br \/>\n* No\u00a0dogs or pets are allowed on the outdoor courtyard area (where we line up for morning prayer and flag salute and where we dismiss in the afternoon)<br \/>\n* Please also refrain from bringing\u00a0dogs or pets into the \u201cyellow cone\u201d area that connects our school to the playground<br \/>\n* No\u00a0dogs or pets on any part of our designated playground areas including big toys and basketball courts<\/p>\n<p><strong>AHERA:\u00a0<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/stalseattle.org\/school\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2018\/09\/2018-Annual-Notification-Letter-002.pdf\">Attached is a letter<\/a>\u00a0that is sent out annually by the Archdiocese of Seattle. \u00a0Federal regulations require that all schools send out this letter regarding AHERA information.<\/p>\n<p>Thank you for a wonderful start to our second week and I look forward to our exciting events together in September.<\/p>\n<p>Thank you,<br \/>\nKathleen Cifu<br \/>\nPrincipal<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hello St. Al Families, Welcome to week two of our school year together.\u00a0I wanted to provide information about a few upcoming events as well as reminders about some of our safety polices and procedures.
