MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Hello St. Al Family and Friends,

I was working on some things in my office last Saturday and I heard something fall on the floor.  When I reached down to pick it up, I realized it was a small statue of St. Therese of Lisieux.  It was wonderfully timed and no coincidence that this was what I found. She has always been a source of peace, calm, and joy for me, something I know I needed at that moment.

St. Therese is known as the little flower of Jesus because of her love of flowers and her devotion to God through the little things.  She relied on small daily sacrifices, reminding us that it is the little things that keep God’s kingdom growing.

This is a time where it is truly important to remember the little things and to use them to draw nearer to God.  Fear and uncertainty seem to be part of the daily routine and during Lent, we might think of sacrifice as more of an inconvenience, rather than an opportunity of praise.  Remember though, it is through the small things that God may choose to speak with us.  It is through our daily prayers and little acts of service that we will foster His love in the world, finding calm, peace, and joy in the Kingdom of God.

“Miss no single opportunity of making some small sacrifice, here by a smiling look, thereby a kindly word; always doing the smallest right and doing it all for love.”  –St. Therese of Lisieux

Thank you,
