CYO Sports

St. Alphonsus participates in the Archdiocese of Seattle’s Catholic Youth Organization (CYO) athletics program. Learn more about current offerings for students in preschool through 8th grade.

After School Offerings

STEAM - Grades K-4

Schedule: 10 Wednesdays, October 4th – December 13th, 2:30 PM – 3:30 PM (No class: 11/22)

This exciting program from Afterschool Enrichment Solutions brings together elements of science, art and math in a hands-on, action-packed environment! Students will conduct experiments, play educational games, and unlock their creativity through building challenges and projects. No experience necessary!

Percussion Ensemble - Grades 5-8

Percussion Ensemble is open to all middle school students. No percussion experience is required. We bang on buckets and garbage cans. We boom with boomwhackers. We build instruments out of PVC pipe. We make a lot of noise! We also learn about rhythm and form. We build musical textures and find interesting timbres. Students are encouraged to improvise and discover beats and rhythmic patterns in the music. We play to current popular music as well as world music. We also compose and create original pieces.

Dates: Mondays from 3:10-4:00pm, Music Room

Science Club - Grades 4-8

Time: 3:20-4:30pm

Chess Club - Grades K-8

Learn the basics of chess, pair up with players of similar skill level, and expand your game by learning new techniques. Who will be the next grandmaster?

Time: 3:20-4:20pm

Dates: alternating Thursdays for gr. K-4 and gr. 5-8.

Cost: $30 (financial assistance available)

Vex Robotics Club - Grades 5-8

VEX IQ is a snap-together robotics system designed from the ground up to provide novice users the chance to find success quickly, while still being able to constantly challenge more advanced users. It integrates Computer Science and Computational Thinking off of the screen and provides an engaging hands-on experience. LIMITED TO 18 STUDENTS.

Time: 3:15-4:45pm

Dates: Every Wednesday, Jan 11-Mar 5

Cost: $75 (financial assistance available)

Stage Stars - Grades K-4

Lights, Camera, Act! Does your child have a “dramatic side”? You might have a budding Stage Star in your family! Our drama class introduces students to the craft of stage acting with a skilled theater instructor. During this exciting class, students will learn theatrical skills, improv basics, and participate in interactive drama games. This class provides opportunities for students to have fun, express themselves, gain confidence, and interact with others, all within the context of theatre arts.

Dates: 9 Wednesdays, January 18th – March 15th, 2:20 PM – 3:20 PM

Let's Code It - Grades 2-8

In this exciting new coding class from Afterschool Enrichment Solutions, take a deep dive into computer programming with the web-based platform Tynker!

  • Learn the art of digital animation
  • Create video games that run on physics, math and art concepts
  • Design Minecraft blocks, skin and mobs
  • Experiment with HTML, Python and Java

Dates: 9 Fridays, January 20th – March 31st, 3:20 PM – 4:20 PM. No class: 2/10, 3/10.

Cost: $150

Baking Club - Grades 3-8

Baking club is a great way to learn how to make delicious treats. At Baking Club we’ll make chocolate chip cookies, cupcakes, brownies, and more! You’ll get to help measure ingredients, mix them, and bake them. All students who participate will be able to take what we bake home! 

Time: 3:25-4:45pm

Choir - Grades 2-8

Practice vocal techniques and learn songs for school Mass and events. All are welcome! Led by Dr. Andrew Koch, organist and music director at St. Alphonsus Parish.

Time: morning recess on Mondays
