1st Grade Teacher

St. Alphonsus is seeking a versatile 1st grade teacher whose love of teaching is matched by a love of forming young minds and hearts in the Catholic faith. Our teachers are passionate and faith-filled educators, committed to developing the whole child. This is a full-time position. There may be opportunities for professional development during the summer for interested candidates.

The 1st grade teacher is responsible for developing and implementing curriculum for humanities, math, science, and religion, as well as a social emotional curriculum. Creating a community of learners who respect and care for one another is also an important role of the 1st grade teacher.


  • Bachelor’s degree is required
  • Candidate should have or be eligible for a Washington State Teaching Credential
  • Practicing Catholics preferred
  • Successful elementary school teaching experience preferred

Kindergarten Aide & Extended Care Aide

St. Alphonsus Parish School is seeking a Kindergarten and Extended Care Aide. This position is for assisting the Kindergarten teacher with instruction and activities as well as providing a safe, caring, and enriching after-school environment for students. Total time is 20-25 hours per week. Working hours can be discussed in the interview. Pay is competitive. Our welcoming Catholic school is located in the Ballard neighborhood of Seattle.


  • Maintains an environment that promotes cooperation, learning, and enjoyment.
  • Communicates and builds positive relations with staff, students, and parents.
  • Flexibility and enthusiasm for learning.
  • Helps with daily, weekly, and monthly general housekeeping tasks.
  • Assists with supervision of children inside and outside of classroom.
  • Assists students with nightly homework and provides an environment of cooperative relationships within grade levels during play time.
  • Assumes responsibility for overseeing student behavior in all environments after school.
  • Other duties as may reasonably be assigned.

  • Experience: Prior experience working with or teaching preschool-aged children; prior experience in children’s ministry is a plus.
  • Safe Environment training through the Archdiocese of Seattle including initial class, Archdiocesan background check and policy sign off; training available upon hire.
