Winter Open House Volunteers Needed

Our biggest Open House event is coming up on Sunday, January 27th from 11:30-1:30pm!

I need at least 15 parent volunteers to help with tours, sign-in, greeting, etc.

I have also listed the items we need to cater the event. If you can send supplies, I would greatly appreciate it. Every $20 you spend counts for 1 volunteer hour.

Please sign up for what works with your schedule. Thank you in advance for your help!

Holiday Hoopla

Friday, December 14

On a piggy bank budget ($0.25 per item) our children can shop for gifts for parents, grandparents, siblings and loved ones of all ages. But we need your help!

Donate
Suggested items include accessories, like scarves, purses, belts and jewelry. Check around your home or work for reusable toys, books, games, DVDs, CDs, holiday decor, kitchen items, gardening supplies, craft supplies. Gifts for Dads/Grandpa are often hard to find, so consider things that might work for them.

We can NOT accept donations of clothing or food.
We also are in need of gift wrap, gift bags, ribbon, and tags.

The day of Holiday Hoopla, please have your child bring a bag to put their gifts that they will purchase for family and loved ones. Our volunteer’s will help them wrap the gifts. Each item is a $0.25. Please have your child bring a list of family members’ names and enough money for each gift.

Volunteer
It takes a lot people to sort the items, help our kids shop, and then wrap the gifts. Please use the Sign Up Genius to volunteer!

Safe Environment Training

Wednesday, September 19

8:45 am
School Cafeteria

If you want to serve as a volunteer working with kids and/or vulnerable adults (classroom aide, field trips, etc.) then you are required to take this training. This training is designed to teach participants how to recognize the signs of abuse, how to respond to suspected abuse and how to keep our ministries, programs and schools safe. More information about Virtus can be found here.

We will be hosting a class after drop-off on Wednesday, September 19 at 8:45 am in the school cafeteria. Please register at virtus.org. Click First-Time Registrant to create a profile and follow the prompts to complete the other requirements of a background check and policies sign-off. One of the prompts is signing up for a class, and you can scroll down until you find ours (although you can take at another location if that is easier for you).

If you think you may already have a virtus profile please contact Charleen Sweet (csweet@stalseattle.org) or Lizzy Scholz (lscholz@stalseattle.org). Also, if you are new to the Archdiocese of Seattle, but think you completed this training in another diocese it may carry over, contact Lizzy!

Scrip: Thank you, Volunteers!

The Scrip committee would like to thank our volunteers who are graduating this year:
Melissa Murphy
Michelle McMyler
Jean Forster
Lilli Forgette
Without their dedication to Scrip, we wouldn’t be able to run the Scrip program as effectively as we do!

Volunteers Needed

Scrip is looking for volunteers interested in helping sell Scrip next year. We are looking for people during the week and especially after the weekend masses. It’s a great way to earn volunteer hours and meet other St. Al’s families. Please contact Mija Hamilton if you are interested or would like more info.

Want to get your child in the tunnel high-fiving the Sounders?

St. Johns and St. Als have secured a group of tickets for the Saturday, September 1st match against Kansas City. Tickets are on sale during soccer registration. The only way to currently get tickets is during registration and the only way to secure 1 of the 20 tunnel experiences is to purchase 3 tickets to the game (3 tickets per experience). The first 20 families who purchase 3 tickets will be guaranteed one spot in the tunnel to high five the Sounders on their way to pre-game warmups.

Create/log intoSportsPilot today from the link on our St. Al’s CYO Extracurricular webpage to register for soccer, and buy your tickets.

Looking for a good league and summer soccer camp outside of CYO?

For birth years 2000-2010: Check out https://www.shorelinesportsclub.com/ . The coaching philosophy and focus on the game is CYO friendly. This is a great option for advanced soccer without the extreme time intensity and cost of other local organizations.

B. Summer Youth Program June 25- August 24 is only $350 for Monday – Thursday 9:30 am – 12:30 pm at Bitterlake CC. Ages 7-17.
