Hello St. Al Families,

With our auction this Saturday, I wanted to say thank you to everyone who will be joining us.  This is by far, our largest fundraiser of the year and I am incredibly appreciative of everyone who contributes to the silent or live auction and our Fund-A-Dream.

Hello St. Al Families,

As many of you know we are celebrating Saints Month the entire month of November here at St. Alphonsus. Saints are important figures as they not only provide precious examples of God-centered living but they also intercede on our behalf, listening to our prayers, and easing our pain.

Message from the Principal

Hello St. Al Families,

Tomorrow is All Saints Day.  It is a holy day that celebrates individuals we can turn to in prayer and in deed as models of our Catholic faith.  These are men, women, and children who lived their lives as beautiful examples for us to follow, using their God-given talents and following God’s call.

Hello St. Al Families,

Thank you to everyone who joined us last Friday for our Fall Family Fun Night. I love activities like these because it provides a fun way to bring us all together as a school community. It was such a delight seeing all of the costumes and such a joy to watch as students played games with their families.

Message from the Principal

Hello St. Al Families,

Last Friday, our teachers met together for our annual Christ in the Classroom (CIC) retreat.  It is time for us to pray and learn together. We discover more about our faith so we can guide our students through that same discovery.  The focus of this year’s retreat was on the parts of mass: the symbolism, the practice, and the message.

Message from the Principal

Hello St. Al Families,

October is Rosary month, with October 7 being the feast of Our Lady of the Rosary. This particular month is special to me as the Rosary was one of the first things that captured my heart when I joined the Catholic church. There is nothing quite like the silence of a still church as you pray each piece of the Rosary in communion with Mary and our Lord.  While silence and stillness work for me, I know they don’t work for everyone. The beauty of the Rosary is that there is no one place or time required for this practice.  We have a group that meets on campus every Friday to pray the Rosary together. Others take a moment on a plane or a park bench to calm their spirit and reach out with those familiar words of devotion. It is about the words, the intent, and your connection with Our Lady and our Lord.

Message from the Principal

Hello St. Al Families,

This week we saw a bit of rain and some colder weather come our way.  In what could be a gloomy, grey experience I found myself filled with joy.  The rain and clouds are what give us our striking plant life and clean, blue skies.  The colder wetter weather could be discouraging but I love this rain and grey sky scenario. It is part of what makes everything so beautiful here.  It creates the captivating landscape we all enjoy and the clean air I longed for as a little girl in Southern California.

Hello St. Al Families,

It is hard to believe but we are about to finish our second week of school.  This was a week full of specialists, routines, and new friendships.  We welcomed a visiting priest, had our first curriculum night, and experienced some impressive thunder and lightning.  It has been a wonderful start to the school year in many ways.
