St. Alphonsus School is monitoring the Novel Coronavirus (COVID- 19) situation carefully and is taking proactive measures to ensure the health and safety of the St. Alphonsus community in accordance with the parameters and guidance set by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Archdiocese of Seattle. This site will be updated as new information becomes available or information changes.

What is the Coronavirus?
The World Health Organization defines Coronavirus as “a large family of viruses that cause illness ranging from the common cold to more severe diseases such as Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS-CoV) and Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS-CoV).”

How is the Coronavirus spread?
The virus is thought to spread mainly from person-to-person.

  • Between people who are in close contact with one another (within about 6 feet).
  • Through respiratory droplets produced when an infected person coughs or sneezes.

These droplets can land in the mouths or noses of people who are nearby or possibly be inhaled into the lungs.

What are common symptoms?

Common signs of infection include respiratory symptoms, fever, cough, shortness of breath, and breathing difficulties. In more severe cases, an infection can cause pneumonia, severe acute respiratory syndrome, kidney failure and even death.

Are school events canceled?

All activities, athletics, and after school programs are canceled during the closure.

Are athletics and sports being canceled?

All athletics are suspended. Check the Catholic Youth Organization website for additional information.

Is St. Alphonsus offering remote learning for students while the school is closed?

Yes! We are holding classes online through the Microsoft Teams platform. Contact your teacher for more information! 

Is St. Alphonsus School open?

Our school building is not open right now. Staff is available for questions between 8:30-3 pm M-F. 

Is St. Alphonsus Parish holding services?

You can visit the parish website (stalseattle.org/parish) for all the details regarding events and Masses. Currently all all Masses, Confessions, Stations of the Cross, Adoration and all programs are canceled.
