Message from the Principal

Hello St. Al Families,

October is Rosary month, with October 7 being the feast of Our Lady of the Rosary. This particular month is special to me as the Rosary was one of the first things that captured my heart when I joined the Catholic church. There is nothing quite like the silence of a still church as you pray each piece of the Rosary in communion with Mary and our Lord.  While silence and stillness work for me, I know they don’t work for everyone. The beauty of the Rosary is that there is no one place or time required for this practice.  We have a group that meets on campus every Friday to pray the Rosary together. Others take a moment on a plane or a park bench to calm their spirit and reach out with those familiar words of devotion. It is about the words, the intent, and your connection with Our Lady and our Lord.

I encourage everyone to find their own moment for the Rosary. Take a moment each day if you can—together, alone, silent, out loud—to calm your thoughts, unplug, and say the Rosary. You won’t believe how powerful that time can be.

In celebration of Rosary month, feel free to stop by our information table in front of the office for a Rosary to take home.

“My impression is that the Rosary is of the greatest value not only according to the words of Our Lady of Fatima but according to the effects of the Rosary, one sees throughout history. My impression is that Our Lady wanted to give ordinary people, who might not know how to pray, this simple method of getting closer to God.”
~Sister Lucia, one of the seers of Fatima
