St. John Parish & School Women’s Overnight Shelter

St. John Parish & School Women’s Overnight Shelter

Do you need volunteer hours for St. Al’s? Or, do you have a middle schooler or high schooler seeking volunteer hours or community service experience? Our sister school St. John, is looking volunteers to help at their women’s shelter.

Every Saturday and Sunday night throughout the school year, 12-15 women come and stay at St. John’s Egan Hall. Training is provided and they are in need of:

  • Women/Female Teens who can stay the night. (Teens must be accompanied by their mom)
  • Shuttle Bus Drivers (male or female) willing to be trained and drive the bus for pick/drop off
  • Snack/meals supplied on Saturday night.
If you are interested in learning more about how to help and be involved with this outreach or be added to the signup, please contact Mary Kearney and Kristin Kent.

Operation Gratitude

Operation Gratitude – Send your candy to a hero!

Wondering what to do with all your excess Halloween Candy?  Bring it to school!

St. Al’s is once again participating in Operation Gratitude where we collect your leftover Halloween candy and donate it to our troops serving overseas. We are accepting candy, dental floss and pens or mechanical pencils this year.  Please do not purchase candy on sale after Halloween; only donate your extra/leftover candy.  If you would prefer to make a financial donation to help with shipping, please drop it in the office. Any excess money will be donated directly to Operation Gratitude.

Look for the box in The Commons from November 1 through November 5.

Questions?  Contact Lori Wilbur.

Soctober – Donate New Socks

Second grade has chosen to collect socks for the homeless as our service project for the month of October. Please help them by having your student bring in new socks for men and women. There is a drop off box by the front office or you can send them in with your student. Mrs. Cintron will deliver the socks to Queen Anne Food Bank at the end of the month. Thank you!

One Saturday

One Saturday at St. Charles Food Bank

St Alphonsus School Community served in Burlington, WA at the St. Charles Food Bank. The baby items were a hit, especially the diapers. Mrs. Johnson’s 5/6 girls made a large box of hand-knit items and they flew off the table. Lots of smiles and grace were shared by all. God bless everyone who helped by donating, knitting, serving and praying for us and our neighbors.
