SHOP WITH SCRIP

May Madness is happening May 1st – 31st

This year, we’re counting the amount of rebate your Scrip purchase earns for the school. So, if you buy $100 of Fred Meyer/QFC, you will be credited with $4.00 for your kids class.  This will be added to the purchases of other families in your kid’s class and the class that has the highest averaged dollar amount will win a pizza party.

Look for the running total in the school entryway. The posters show all of our Scrip purchased and the rebates we receive. So, help your child’s class earn a Pizza Party and St. Al’s earn some serious cash!!!

Message from the Principal

Hello St. Al Family and Friends,

In true Seattle fashion, the weather has once again turned and sunshine has been brief. The arrival of rain and the presence of clouds would be enough to cast gloom on anyone, but not our students.  This week I witnessed an incredible amount of spirit coming for our collective student body at the jog-a-thon kickoff and pep assembly.  Complete with blue pompoms, our school dressed in blue, green, and white to show St. Alphonsus Parish School pride.  Eighth grade students led everyone in school cheers and kids found out about everything the jog-a-thon entails.

The joy was contagious and the sense of community was everywhere.  That joy doesn’t need to stay within our close community.  As you work to fundraise for this year’s jog-a-thon, I encourage everyone to tell friends and family exactly why St. Alphonsus Parish School is important to you.  Tell others about what their donations would provide for our students and the work they would allow us to continue.

Thank you,
Kathleen Cifu

PRINCIPAL’S CORNER

Hello St. Al Family and Friends,

We are so thankful for the blessings God has given us as we consider the sacrifices, we have made this Lenten season.  The 4th grade class led a wonderful prayer assembly on Wednesday, reminding us of just how important it is to be kind.  At the end of the assembly I had the students sit silently for ten seconds and think of two ways they could show kindness this week.  As we watch the news and read the headlines, it is difficult at times to see the good that still exists around us.  Through the lens of Lent and Catholic teachings, I encourage everyone to find ways in which we can spread the love of Christ through our own acts of kindness.  I challenge each of you to consider this question: what acts of kindness can you perform this next week?

Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you. ~Ephesians 4:32

Thank you,

Kathleen Cifu
