Vex Robotics Club

Vex Robotics Club attends Seattle Prep League Finals

Saint Alphonsus School’s Vex Robotics Club wrapped up their competition season with a strong showing at Seattle Prep League Finals on February 27th. Our three teams finished in second, third and fifth places overall. Congratulations students! We are proud of your achievement!

The team has been working since September to build and improve a robot to meet this year’s challenge called “Next Level.”  You can learn more about the game here:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IJML1_JNCLI

We intend to run the club again next year for middle school students.  If your child is interested in joining, please contact St. Al’s parent Chris Legere at [email protected] and keep your eye out for notices in Angels’ Angle before the end of the year and at the start of next school year.

Costume Work Party

Do you love Theater?  Can you sew? Are you a bargain thrift store hunter?

Costume Work Party
Saturday, March 2
2-4 pm
School Auditorium

We’re looking for volunteers to help us with this year’s production of Beauty and the Beast, Jr. You do not need to have a child cast in the show to volunteer. This Saturday we are having a Costume Work Party where we will begin by sorting through the many bins of costumes we already possess and outlining what needs to be re-purposed, adapted, created, purchased or procured. We’re looking to assemble a team to hit thrift stores, hem here or there, and help organize. We promise a fun time, clear communication, and tasks based on volunteer time available. Please reach out to Victoria Long and let her know you want to be part of this year’s Costume Crew: [email protected].

If there are other ways you would like to help with the middle school musical, please contact Volunteer Coordinator, Tricia Bentley at [email protected].

We hope to field a 5th/6th and either one or two 7 and 8th grade teams for the 2019 CYO season.

We need coaches for the 5th/6th grade team! Without a coach, we cannot field a team. Please contact Kevin Sylvester at [email protected] right away if you would like to coach or be an assistant.

Register here:  https://reg.sportspilot.com/106510/leagues

Registration Fee is $95

CYO Baseball reminders:

  • Baseball is a co-ed sport.
  • We encourage our players to participate in additional leagues (LL, Pony, Club, etc.)  CYO is an opportunity for classmates to play the game together, but we do not practice (just 2 practices in March) during the season, this is an opportunity to play more games and get more chances to hit, field and pitch.

Outdoor practice will be at Loyal Heights 3/2 and 3/9 from 3:30pm – 5:00pm.

Game Dates:

  • League
    • March 17, 24, 31
    • April 7, 14, 21, 28
    • May 5, 12
  • Tournament
    • Wednesday, May 15 – Sunday, June 2, 2018

See’s Candy Sale

The 6th graders have the exciting opportunity to attend Camp Waskowitz Enviromental Camp! This week long camp is held in the spring. It is a chance for the kids to learn about environmental science in an outdoor setting.

In order to help defray the cost of environmental camp, the 6th graders will be selling See’s candy. Please support their endeavor by making a purchase. Candy also makes great Christmas gifts! Gift certificates are also available and make a great addition to a Christmas card.

Sixth graders will be selling See’s candy from Friday, October 26th to November 30th. Orders are prepaid, so have that checkbook handy! Candy will be available for delivery to customers before the kids go on Christmas break.

If you have questions, please contact [email protected]
