CYO Basketball Registration

CYO Basketball Registration

Registration is open for coaches and players in grades 4-8. Registration fee is $105

Registration is open until October 29th, 2018.

If you do not register your child by this date, we cannot guarantee that they will be able to participate in CYO basketball this year.

Follow the link on our website to register at SportsPilot: https://stalseattle.org/school/extracurricular/cyo-athletics/

Assessments for teams will take place beginning the week of October 30th (unless your child’s team is in Soccer Playoffs that week). For 4th and 5th grade, teams will be separated by gender and the teams will split up as evenly as possible. For 6th – 8th grade there will be Varsity and JV teams for both Boys and Girls. Independent assessors will be evaluating to separate the teams according to CYO rules. Practices will start the week after assessments.

Games start the weekend of 11/16/2018. There is a week off for Thanksgiving, then one game each weekend for the first three weekends of December. There are then four games (one per weekend) between January 5th and January 27th.  Playoffs will be held for 6th – 8th grade the first two weeks of February.

Your child’s specific practice and game schedule will be communicated by your child’s coach following the assignment of teams.

Basketball/Volleyball Uniform Return

We need you to look through you drawers and closets for last years Under Armour basketball/volleyball jersey and shorts. We are missing a significant amount of them (about 100). Please, please return them. They are to be re-used to keep costs down over the next few years. This also goes for students who played volleyball including the high school teams.

You can return uniforms to the office.  Please return them ASAP but no later than Tuesday 10/9.  Thanks!

Girl Scouts Troop 43679

Is your girl interested in Girl Scouts?  St. Al’s has an all-ages troop that meets after school on Mondays and Thursdays!
Last year we did crafts, made blankets for Seattle Children’s Hospital and created bird houses and squirrel nesting boxes for our community. Oh! And we also sold some Girl Scout cookies! 😉

This year, we will be making our world a better place!  We will be educating ourselves on bees and our environment.
This is just one of our main projects this year. If your family is interested, please register for Girl Scouts on the regional website:  https://www.girlscoutsww.org

We also need adult volunteers!  Please contact Maureen Endres at [email protected] for volunteer details.

Science Club

Join the Science Club! (Grades 3-8)

Science Club is an exciting opportunity to explore all things science!  We use fun to explore the everyday world through the lens of chemistry, physics and astronomy. It is an chance to have hands on fun without the pressure of a grade.  Last year the group made soap, cheese, explored chlorophyll chromatography, gas phases with dry ice and extracted DNA.

This club is open to students in 3rd through 8th grade. Limited to the first 22 students to turn in permission slips. Annual supply and snack fee is $15 for the year. If the supply fee is a burden, please contact Mr. Swanson. No child shall be excluded based on the ability to pay the fee. Permission slips can be obtained in the school office or Mr. Swanson’s classroom.

The club meeting dates are Thursdays, after school from 3:15 – 4:30pm

Want to get your child in the tunnel high-fiving the Sounders?

St. Johns and St. Als have secured a group of tickets for the Saturday, September 1st match against Kansas City. Tickets are on sale during soccer registration. The only way to currently get tickets is during registration and the only way to secure 1 of the 20 tunnel experiences is to purchase 3 tickets to the game (3 tickets per experience). The first 20 families who purchase 3 tickets will be guaranteed one spot in the tunnel to high five the Sounders on their way to pre-game warmups.

Create/log intoSportsPilot today from the link on our St. Al’s CYO Extracurricular webpage to register for soccer, and buy your tickets.

Looking for a good league and summer soccer camp outside of CYO?

For birth years 2000-2010: Check out https://www.shorelinesportsclub.com/ . The coaching philosophy and focus on the game is CYO friendly. This is a great option for advanced soccer without the extreme time intensity and cost of other local organizations.

B. Summer Youth Program June 25- August 24 is only $350 for Monday – Thursday 9:30 am – 12:30 pm at Bitterlake CC. Ages 7-17.

Attention 4th and 5th Graders!

Join the Debate Club!

DebateAble

DebateAble is offering an after school debate club every Tuesday, 3:15-4:15pm, beginning March 6th through June 5th.

Debate builds kids’ confidence, critical thinking, and public speaking skills. Spring Debate Club includes participation in DebateAble’s Annual Citywide Tournament, an exciting event that gives young debaters the unique opportunity to practice their skills in a real tournament environment. DebateAble is the only elementary program of its kind in the country, making debate fun for kids– no experience required! Students will prepare for the tournament during regular club meetings, engaging in games and other activities that build critical thinking and public speaking skills, then working with fellow debaters to formulate, practice and respond to arguments around this year’s (still top secret!) tournament topic. (The tournament is not a St. Alphonsus School sponsored event but the St. Al’s debate team will participate.)

DebateAble encourages kids to find their own voices and to listen to the voices of others! For more information, visit www.debateablekids.com.

Registration open 8am February 16th at  https://www.debateablekids.com

Cost: $260- 13 weeks (no class 4/3)
