Dust off your crock-pot and dig up your award winning family recipes!  We only have room for 15 chili contestants so you will want to register early.

Sign up here to register. Unlimited cornbread entries are allowed. Besides the pride of winning, there will prizes for the best spicy chili, non-traditional chili, kid friendly chili and finally, the best in show! If you don’t cook, come out to enjoy the food and judge the entrees!

Scary Cake Contest

Our Annual Scary Cake Contest is back! Please deliver your scary cake to the cafeteria before school on Friday, October 26. All cakes will be judged by class and prizes will be awarded. The cakes will then be used in the cake walk at Family Fun Night.

Our online fair opens Sept. 9. Anyone can order and the books will be shipped directly to school in your child’s name. There are many more titles available in the online fair, use the click here to explore what’s available.

Thanks for supporting the fair!

Lunch Recess Volunteers Needed!

We have returned to full days at school –  which means it’s time for lunch recess.

We need at least 1-2 parents to volunteer every day to ensure the safety of our kids.

This is a great way to get to know your child’s friends and classmates, as well as getting your parent volunteer hours!

We need volunteers:
Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 11:50-12:35
and
Tuesday from 12:00-12:45.

Safe Environment Training

Wednesday, September 19

8:45 am
School Cafeteria

If you want to serve as a volunteer working with kids and/or vulnerable adults (classroom aide, field trips, etc.) then you are required to take this training. This training is designed to teach participants how to recognize the signs of abuse, how to respond to suspected abuse and how to keep our ministries, programs and schools safe. More information about Virtus can be found here.

We will be hosting a class after drop-off on Wednesday, September 19 at 8:45 am in the school cafeteria. Please register at virtus.org. Click First-Time Registrant to create a profile and follow the prompts to complete the other requirements of a background check and policies sign-off. One of the prompts is signing up for a class, and you can scroll down until you find ours (although you can take at another location if that is easier for you).

If you think you may already have a virtus profile please contact Charleen Sweet (csweet@stalseattle.org) or Lizzy Scholz (lscholz@stalseattle.org). Also, if you are new to the Archdiocese of Seattle, but think you completed this training in another diocese it may carry over, contact Lizzy!

St. Al/St. John CYO Night at Seattle Sounders – This Saturday!

To kick off the soccer season we have 150 tickets together for the Sounders match this Saturday, September 1 at 1pm.  As a result we have been given experiences for the kids.  Not only will some kids get a chance to high five the players pregame (filled) but there are open spots for kids to get on the pitch towards the end of the 1st half and watch from the field! The Sounders have a chance to make a historic win streak as they have already surged from near last place into a playoff berth.

Tickets are around $25 (depending on quantity). You can purchase them through Sportspilot.  Families just need to log into Sportpilot https://reg.sportspilot.com/106510/login , select register “Begin Registration”, select any family member, then Sounders Game and they can select the quantity they need.

Please purchase your tickets by Wednesday so we can organize the experiences and  be able to email you the tickets by Friday.  All St. Al/St. John students present, past and future welcome!

While we still have many on the field experiences, they are limited so buy your tickets ASAP!

Grandparents’/Grandfriends Day

Thank you to all of our Grandparents’ and Grandfriends’ who joined us on Friday, May 25th!

We so enjoyed the 3rd grade prayer assembly, the Kindergarten and 1st Grade songs, and the musical numbers from Mary Poppins, Jr. Our Book Sale was a success (all proceeds benefit our wonderful library) and the cake was delicious!

Finally, we loved seeing all the smiling faces in the photos by Suzy Petrucci of GlimmerGlass Photography. Here is the link to the photos, and the PIN (05252018) you’ll need to download.  Enjoy!
